Björn W. Schuller is Full Professor and ZD.B Chair of Embedded Intelligence for Health Care and Wellbeing at University of Augsburg, Germany, Imperial College's/UK GLAM - the Group on Language, Audio & Music, is the co-founding CEO of audEERING GmbH - an Audio Intelligence company - and permanent Visiting Professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology, China. Best known are his works advancing Machine and Deep Learning for Computer Audition and Affective Computing. Dr. Schuller was President of the AAAC (2013-2015), is a Fellow of the IEEE and Senior Member of the ACM. He (co-)authored 5 books and more than 700 publications (17000+ citations, h-index = 65).
He is the Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing, a General Chair of ACII 2019, Asian ACII 2018, ICMI 2014, a Program Chair of INTERSPEECH 2019, ACII 2015 and 2011, ICMI 2013, SocialCom 2012, and the annual Audio/Visual Emotion Challenge and Workshop (AVEC) since 2011. In 2015, he has been honoured as one of 40 extraordinary scientists under the age of 40 by the World Economic Forum. In 2017, his company won the Digital Marketing Innovation World Cup based on a Speech Emotion Recognition software. Previously, he was Full Professor and Chair of Complex and Intelligent Systems and Chair of Sensor Systems at the University of Passau, Germany, headed the Machine Intelligence and Signal Processing Junior Group at TUM, was a Visiting Professor at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, Key Researcher at Joanneum Research in Graz,Austria, and with the French CNRS near Paris besides further short visits. He received his diploma in 1999, his doctoral degree for his study on Automatic Speech and Emotion Recognition in 2006, and was entitled Adjunct Teaching Professor all in EE/IT from TUM in Munich, Germany.

Dr. Shantala Hegde, is an Assistant Professor and consultant at the Neuropsychology Unit, department of Clinical Psychology and department of Neurorehabilitation, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. She obtained her M.Phil in Clinical Psychology and PhD in the field of Clinical Neuropsychology, both from NIMHANS. Her research interest is in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation. Her specific focus is in the area of music perception and cognition and the application of music based intervention in neuropsychological rehabilitation. She has established and currently heads the Music Cognition Laboratory at NIMHANS, the first of its kind in India. She is trained in Neurologic Music Therapy from the International Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy.
She has several fellowships and awards to her credit. She is also a musician (Vocalist) trained in the Hindustani Classical Music tradition and composed and sung for a music CD named ‘Uma Sahasram’.
